How Amazon Flex taxes work
- Add up your block pay and tips for the year.
- Subtract your business miles at 72.5¢ (January to June) and 76¢ (July to December), plus costs such as the business share of your phone.
- Pay 15.3 % self-employment tax on 92.35 % of the profit.
- Pay income tax on what is left after the standard deduction, half of SE tax, the tips deduction and the QBI deduction.

Questions
Does Amazon Flex take out taxes?
No. Amazon Flex delivery partners are independent contractors, so Amazon pays the full block rate and withholds no tax. You pay self-employment tax and income tax yourself, usually with quarterly estimated payments.
Where do I find my Amazon Flex tax form?
For payments made in 2026, a 1099-NEC is required when you were paid $2,000 or more. Amazon makes its tax forms available on Amazon Tax Central (taxcentral.amazon.com), and if you chose paperless delivery they are not mailed.
How much should I save from each Amazon Flex block?
Use the percentage this calculator shows. With $38,000 of block pay and 16,000 miles, it comes to about 11 % of what Amazon paid, before state tax.
Are the miles to the delivery station deductible?
The drive from home to the delivery station is often treated as commuting, which is not deductible. Miles from the station along your route and back are business miles. Keep a log with the date, miles and purpose of each trip.
